Born in 1881 in Malaga, Spain, Pablo Picasso was the founder of cubism, together with Georges Braque. A painter, draughtsman, sculptor, engraver and ceramicist, he had links to all the artistic movements of the 20th century (surrealism, neo-classicism, and so on), becoming one of the key figures in modern art. He died in Mougins in 1973.
