Triptych of the Virgin with Child surrounded by musician angels

Group of the Embroidered Foliage
Circa 1490
Group of the Embroidered Foliage

It is thought that this triptych is the work of several painters, and it is probably true because in 15th century Flanders, most works of art were produced in studios and not by a single artist. This group of artists is described as the "Group of the Embroidered Foliage" because the finesse of the leaves – made up of little light green dots on a dark green base – makes them appear embroidered.
