Play your cards right!

The idea of reproducing playing cards in a trompe-l'œil on earthenware was born in Delft. This trend reappeared in Lille, where manufacturers produced a series of four plates, using the four traditional "suits" of playing cards. The Palais des Beaux-Arts is fortunate enough to hold a complete series, from the Mouton factory.
